COMMITTEES AND CHAIRS

Please consider volunteering for the PTSA either for a single event or serving on a committee.  There are opportunities for every schedule.  You can absolutely work outside of the home and volunteer.  If you are interested in volunteering but are not sure what will fit into your schedule, please just let us know, we want to work with you! ECMS PTSA currently has the following committees.  If you are specifically interested in any committee or helping with any event, please contact us and we will be happy to explain them to you in more detail.

Back to School Events:  This committee oversees the Rising 6th Grade Camp, the Staff Back to School Luncheon, and Jr. Wildcat Day.

Book Fair Committee:  This committee works with media specialist to set up, recruit volunteers and break down for the Annual Book Fair usually held in October.

Chik-Fil-A Biscuit Sales: This committee helps to recruit and schedule volunteers for the Foundation biscuit sales held once a week.

Community Outreach Committee: This committee is responsible for working with the school social worker and principal to organize and publicize food drives, coat drives, and clothing drives.  This committee also coordinates the Angel Tree each year.

Health & Safety Chair: This committee coordinates the hearing and vision checks for 7th and new 8th graders, scoliosis screening for female students, and Red Ribbon week in October.

Spirit Wear:  This committee oversees the ordering, inventory, and sale of Spirit Wear, both online and in person at school events.

Scholarship:  This committee is responsible for overseeing the entire application and awarding process of the ECMS annual scholarship.

Legislation & Advocacy:  This committee is responsible for encouraging and educating PTSA members to be effective advocates for children and parents by conducting information sessions, legislative forums, town hall meetings, candidate forums, voter registration drives and information on polling dates and information.  One or more members would attend local school board meetings and access information from your school district’s website.

Locker Stocker: This committee oversees a school store with a limited inventory for school and band supplies. The committee would set store hours and days with the assistance of the principal and staff and staff the store with volunteers, as well as order the products sold.

Membership: This committee oversees the membership drive to recruit PTSA members.  The committee would staff events to sell memberships and advertise membership sales online.  This committee also works with regional and state PTA organizations on membership.

Staff Appreciation: This committee oversees appreciation events and purchasing of gifts for the nurse, public safety officer, counselors, custodians, social worker, and bus drivers. Staff Appreciation Luncheon & Staff Holiday Luncheon:  This committee organizes the Annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon and the Staff Holiday Luncheon to include ordering and preparing food, decorating, purchasing, or making gifts, and recruiting volunteers.

Rising 6th Grade Planning:  This committee works with the 6th grade principal to coordinate all aspects of this event, usually taking place in February, to include music department performances and club participation, as well as Spirit Wear sales.

PBIS/Rep Store:  This committee oversees the Rep Store where students are able to use their reward points to purchase items in the store once per week.  The committee coordinates purchasing and donation of items for the store, maintaining the inventory, setting pricing, recording sales, and recruiting volunteers to work the weekly store.
