What is PTSA? Why Join PTSA?

Why should you join the ECMS PTSA?  What does the PTSA do for ECMS?

ECMS PTSA is composed of East Cobb Middle School parents, students, and staff.  The PTA/PTSA is the largest child advocacy group in the nation.  By joining the PTSA, you are adding your voice for every child.

The ECMS PTSA Board is a volunteer group of parents working together to bring fun enrichment programs to our students and provide assistance to teachers and staff throughout the year.

Red Ribbon Week, Book Fair, Teacher Appreciation, Cougarfest, and grade level programs are just a few events which the PTSA sponsors.

It is never too late to join the ECMS PTSA!

PTA Mission: The overall purpose of PTA
  • A powerful voice for all children,
  • A relevant resource for families and communities, and
  • A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.

What is PTSA?

The National PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer association in the United States working exclusively on behalf of children and youth. The local PTA is the most important link you have as a parent to become involved in your child's school.

Why should I join PTSA?

The PTSA at East Cobb Middle School is working everyday to provide programs that enable parents to become more involved. The PTSA also provides many services that directly affect parents and students. Those services include:

  • ECMS School Planners: PTSA funding provides the required Daily Planner to each and every student who attends East Cobb Middle School.
  • School Calendar, School Directory: Our Calendar keeps you informed of what is scheduled at school and our School Directory helps increase parental communication. Middle School is a time to know who your child's friends are, and how to reach them AND their parents.
  • ECMS Newsletter and ECMS Website: These tools keep you up to date with what is happening at school, provide valuable PTSA information, and serve as a valuable tool for communication between school and home.
  • Reflections and Honoring Our Heroes: These contests promote creativity and writing skills.
  • Ambassador's Desk, Locker Stocker and Media Center Staffing: By volunteering a few hours per month, you can help out at the school, and be a part of what is East Cobb Middle School.
  • Community Outreach: This committee helps to address the needs of our local community, by providing such services as our "Gift Again" program, and various food and supply drives.

Why should my child join PTSA?

A PTSA membership is an important way for a student to show their support for their school. All of the PTSA programs directly affect the students at ECMS. In addition, upcoming promotions, such as student dances, offer discounted tickets with a PTSA card. Each PTSA membership also comes

with valuable discounts and freebies.

I work full-time/l have small children at home/my schedule is hectic and I can't get to school to volunteer. Why does the PTSA need me?

Joining PTSA does not mean that you have to volunteer. Your membership dues help to fund the many programs that are staffed by volunteers who are able to make the time.
